Hi, I’m Leah
Driving to pick up freshly caught dinner from the fish shop at the fisherman’s wharf what made growing up on the Jersey Shore so memorable. Being raised in a town with an annual festival to celebrate freshly caught seafood brought in by fisherman and all of their hard work. Literally, there is a Seafood Festival the third weekend of very September. Incredibly fresh seafood has always been the taste of home to me. Now living in the Pacific Northwest, I’ve spent the last decade searching for the best regional seafood shops. The Puget Sound has a lot to offer, famously it’s Dungeness Crab, Halibut, and Oysters and Salmon. The hard work of many people goes into the fishing and aquaculture industries, found in the Salish Sea, where the fish and shellfish species are carefully tended to by private companies, restoration non-profits, local tribes and the State of Washington. What lands on my plate is the direct result of decades of hard work to preserve, maintain and restore marine and aquatic ecosystems. By seeing what PNW has to offer in the form fish and chips, I’m sharing my mission to invite people to connect to the Salish Sea by celebrating good food, while raising awareness about our impact on marine environments and how we can help the Puget Sound to thrive. And you’re invited to Join me!
